A childhood dream on Majorca
A spacious factory was built under the fine Majorcan sun in 1886 - and the Cabot family renovated just this factory in 2017. After many years in London and New York, Joan and Aina Cabot moved back to the island to raise their two young daughters surrounded by nature, the ocean and sunshine. The old factory building of Aina’s grandparents seemed just right. But the upper floor had been virtually untouched for 130 (!) years – so there was a lot to do here.
Natural wood flooring
The old terracotta tiles were beyond saving. New flooring had to be installed: the engineered wood flooring, Oak Smoked wide plank. Wood is still an unusual material for flooring in Spain, but the family knew: it had to be engineered wood flooring. “It’s hard to go back once you’ve had wood flooring,” says Joan Cabot.
"Wood is simply so warm and cosy, you want to sit right on the floor." The right colour was also important: the antique look of the wood, the reddish tone and the natural surface reflect the style of the building perfectly. "We looked at so many samples, but this one just fit perfectly."
